SUMMARY:D&T Kin: Wheels of Fire!
DESCRIPTION:Open to men\, women\, and children (all ages) \nAll creeds welcome \nAdventure Score: 2 \nThe word “volcano” derives from the Ancient Roman worship of Vulcan\, with whom they associated both the destructive and regenerative powers of fire. \nWe know better. \nGod is One\, and His attributes encompass the mighty and the merciful. It is He who created the volcanoes\, portals of infernal brimstone from which the Earth belches and exhales both beauty and devastation. And this summer\, we are taking our families over 1200 miles north along a Trail of Fire\, tracking the volcanic history of the Great Pacific Northwest. \nWe’ve got room for 50 people\, and you’re invited. \nRegistration deadline 6/8/2023! \nWe start our trip the morning of Saturday\, July 8th at D&T Camp One in Placerville\, CA. Feel free to swing by the day before. Just let us know you’re coming and we’ll make sure you’ve got a place to stay and a hot meal to tuck you in. \nOur first stop is Lassen Volcanic National Park where we will spend a day and a night exploring the geothermal activity of the dynamic and shifting landscape. \nThe morning of July 9th will see us in the city of Redding for coffee and breakfast before heading to the lovely town of Dunsmuir\, where the water is reputed to be the cleanest on earth. \nFrom there we head out for a day hiking the mystical slopes of Mount Shasta\, an active volcano believed by the early Klamath people to be inhabited by the spirit chief Skell. The area continues to entice spiritual seekers of every disposition and we will camp among them. \nWe’ll need our rest\, because on July 10th we continue north to Crater Lake where we will spend the day along the rim of the deepest freshwater lake in America. The brave among us may decide to slip into the water for a quick swim. Anglers- feel free to wet your lines. No license required! \nWe’ll spend the night along Diamond Lake in Oregon’s Umpqua National Forest before heading over to Silver Falls State Park on July 11th for a day spent hiking the Trail of Ten Falls before setting up camp. \nJuly 12th is our city day (and perhaps our most ambitious) with a few hours earmarked for trips into Portland and Seattle to stock up on supplies and sample their legendary coffees before squeezing in a side trip to Mount Saint Helens\, perhaps the most active and destructive of all the volcanoes on our trip. \nIt will be late by the time we make it to our group campsite along the banks of Goodell Creek in Washington’s North Cascades National Park. The volcanoes here are dormant\, but we will be a witness to their geological legacy as we take in the scope and the magnitude of what has been described as the American Alps. \nThe morning of July 13th will see us\, God willing\, exploring the North Cascades for a full day before settling in for our last night together where we hope to honor the adventure through one last shared meal and a closing reflection before parting ways the morning of July 14th. \nIncluded: \n\nOvernight accommodations and meal at Dust and Tribe Camp One (optional)\nOvernight camping in Lassen\, Shasta\, Umpqua National Forest\, Silver Falls State Park\, and the North Cascades\nPoint-by-point itinerary\, packing list\, and personalized assistance with logistics\nCommemorative D&T Kin keepsake to honor our time together\nNew friends and a lifetime of memories!\n\nYou are responsible for your family’s food\, transportation\, clothing\, and gear (limited rentals are available). \nPlease note: \nThis is a one-way itinerary from Placerville to the North Cascades National Park. \nPlease plan your trip home accordingly. \nThe adventure fee is $120/per participant over two years of age. \nYour 50% deposit is refundable up until 11:59 pm on Friday April 28th\, 2023. \nRegistration for this event is closed \nQuestions? Send us a message through our Contact Page \nSigned up? You are an inspiration and a comment from you could be just the bit of encouragement someone else needs to come along!
