DESCRIPTION:Join me and the wonderful crew from Ramadan Ready as we search the sky for the new moon of Dhu’l-Hijjah\, the 12th and final month of the Islamic lunar year! \n \nThere is a fantastic celestial dance between the earth and moon so tightly choreographed that entire calendars can be built in anticipation of their movements. We’ll gather together to search for the new moon from a gorgeous coastal overlook in Ranchos Palos Verdes. Bring food to allow for a sunset picnic and\, conditions permitting\, we’ll spend some time reviewing the more recognizable summer constellations\, insha Allah. \nA moon-themed craft\, cookies\, and cocoa will be provided by Ramadan Ready. All proceeds from this event will go toward supporting their work in promoting Islamic cultural representation in our public libraries. \nThis event is closed to registration. \nGet on the interest list for information on upcoming events.
