An Overview

You might be feeling a little lost.

David Valuja

There are so many logistics to consider. But don’t worry. We’ll get it all sorted, God willing.

I’m not going to give you all the details now. I will give you an overview, though. That way you can start to think more clearly about what you need to think about.

Transportation

Your boat leaves from Ventura at 9 am on Friday, April 19th. You’re all booked. You just need to get to the marina. That’s for you to figure out. Vehicles can be left at the marina the duration of your time on Santa Cruz.

The boat returns to the island at noon on Sunday, April 21st. It will bring you back to Ventura.

Gear

A detailed gear list is forthcoming. In the meantime, be aware that you are tent camping. You will be sleeping on the ground unless you make extravagant arrangements.

Of course, you will be schlepping all of that extravagance about a mile or so from where the boat lands to your campsite.

At camp there are bathrooms with pit toilets. There is water. There is no place to put your trash and there is no place to build a fire. It’s a small island. A wildfire would be devastating.

Clothing

You want layers. We’ll go into detail about this later, but the nights can be cool. It can get windy on the bluffs and hills. And you really should pack something to play in the water. It’s lovely.

Food

Bring some. It helps to pass the time.

Alright. I hope that clarifies things. In the next post we’re going to divide you up into clans.

There’s fifteen of you, so we’ll do three clans of five. Don’t send me requests. Requests make me mad. Rather, channel your confusion and frustration into coming up with a sweet clan name.

That’s where you’ll find your happiness.
