D&T Gents: Intro to Outdoor Climbing

Climbing Routes: 5.3 and higher
Bouldering Routes: V0 and higher
Experience level: None required

Join us in Joshua Tree National Park on Valentine’s weekend for good times as we learn the fundamentals of top-roping, dial in our map and compass skills with some backcountry orienteering, and endure the pre-dawn chill to catch a desert sunrise.

That’s the plan.

Life is hard and these rocks teach us that even the most insurmountable obstacles are manageable with some planning, good friends, and solid communication. Climbing is about working through fear, building trust, and understanding that pain is part of the process.

With all of that to deal with, we’re fine with anybody who wants to hug it out.

We’re bringing chocolate. We might even pick you a flower.

More than anything though, we want to make sure that by the time you go home you’ll know how to set bomb-proof anchors, self-rappel, and belay your partner safely, God willing.

• Point-by-point itinerary, packing list, and personalized assistance with logistics

• Instruction in anchor-building, partner-belay, and climbing safety

You are responsible for your food, transportation, clothing, park entry fees, and personal climbing gear: climbing shoes, helmet, and harness

Please note: This event will cancel if fewer than five registered participants 14 days prior to our adventure start. Confirm before booking your flight.

Inclement weather will not be grounds for either cancellation or refund except in cases of extreme severity.
