Women 16+
All creeds welcome.
Our signature women’s trip is back: two nights and three days on stunning Santa Cruz Island off the coast of Ventura.
Embark on a three-hour channel crossing to the crown jewel of the Channel Islands, the place the indigenous Chumash called Limuw. Whales and dolphins are apt to frolic in your wake, the descendants, according to Chumash legend, of those men and women who fell from the Rainbow Bridge connecting the island to the mainland.
It is a place of origins. For the Chumash, this was the beginning of creation, their people arising from the seeds of the Magic Plant. For you, it is the beginning of discovery, the grounding of self within creation, and the consolidation of communal bonds in the flourish of sisterhood.
You will hike in the mile or so from your landing at the beach to your campsite where you will pitch your tents and fall in love with the milky oats that grow waist high and the morning glories that twist around your ankles, with the foxes that slink and steal, and with the eagles that soar and sail. Miles of trails and secluded rocky coves beckon you to explore and play.
Our lead facilitator is wilderness first-aid certified and will build an itinerary around your interests and aptitudes that will including hiking, water play, native plant identification, and stargazing- all contextualized within the sacred teachings of our Islamic framework.
All skill and fitness levels are welcome. No previous camping experience required- we will walk with you through the entire process.
